O' NIGERIA
BY LOVETH ARIKANKI
How long do we wait?
For we have written and surely written.
We have spoken and yet still complain.
And the labour of our heroes past?
History, forgotten, Faded!
For how long do we hope for a better nation?
Where inclusivity prevails.
Where the cry of a poor man is but an echo.
And a rich man, his ego.
For our youths have lost hope.
The future has grown old.
None care for justice.
O' how it'd been denied several times.
O' Nigeria!
Which sector hasn't failed?
The education?
Still dangling under stale curriculums.
Financial?
"money will always revolve round those with access to it"; they say.
And, Politics?
A power game dressed as democracy.
With old faces in recycled promises.
But yet, we'll keep praying.
That, oh thou God of all creations,
Direct our noble course.
Guide our leaders right,
And our youth?
Help them know the truth.
So that someday,
They too,
And we all,
Like the average American,
May with boldness and truth say:
God bless Nigeria!
