By Babalola Blessing

The Academic Staff of Universities Union, ASUU had suspended its two weeks warning strike following the negotiation and intervention of the National University Council (NUC).

Recall that the union embarked on a two weeks warning strike due for expiration on Monday, 27th of October, which was declared after the expiration of the two weeks deadline given to the Federal Government to avert industrial action.

The union's decision was out of what they described as the neglect and insincerity of the Federal Government in resolving the long standing demand as found in the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement which has been the cause of industrial action from 2009 till date.

In a press conference earlier today, The national President of the Academic Staff of Universities Union, Professor Chris Piwuna, announced the suspension of the two weeks warning strike while he emphasized that should the government fail to address the tendred issue in the space of one month, the union will be forced to return to it initial decision of indefinate strike.
