COURTING OLD SHADOWS

I roam halls where silence echoes your name,

And where the air is thick,

With whispers of your breath.

Each step I take kindles a delicate flame,

Still I court the shadow of your death

Your ghost remains,

my soul unwavering vow,

Forever bound to the emptiness I allow.

I reach for hands that life has torn away,

But darkness answers, colder than your skin.

The night reveals the things I dare not say,

The lament that chokes the life I hold within.

I kiss the shadows where once you had been,

And name it love,

Though love has turned to sin.

The child I was now weeps for what is lost,

Her laughter faded into whispers of the past.

Innocence paid its ransom, named the cost,

And shadows bloom where once our love was cast.

I dance with grief, adorned in sable thread,

A widow to the love that has long since fled.

Your memory strikes sharper than a blade,

It carves my heart out and leaves me torn, undone¡

No prayer can lift the curse our love has made,

And no healer, the pain that has been borne.

I court your ghost, though haunted is my head,

For what is love, if not a heart long bled?

So let me bleed where shadows make their home,

I will don the cloak of sorrow, dark but true,

The graveyard is the shrine I make my own,

My vows are ashes, yet I burn for you,

Until the stars surrender to the night,

I will wed your shadows, starving for your warm light.
