UI Declares July 15th Public Holiday to Honour the Late President, Mohammadu Buhari

Following the public announcement of the death of the former president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Government has declared July 15, a public holiday in his honour.
In a press release by Punch Newspaper, it was stated; “The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, July 15, 2025, as a public holiday in honour of the late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday.”
A few hours later, the University Management sent out a special release declaring Tuesday, 15th of July as a public holiday. The memo released also emphasized that normal work activities will resume on Wednesday, 16th of July, 2025, implying that there will be no examination on Tuesday.
The special release, which was signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, further emphasized that essential duties providers are expected to report to work as scheduled.
