UCJ UI POSTPONES GCJS 2.0 AND PROF. EGBOKHARE INTER-PRESS DEBATE COMPETITION

The Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan has officially announced the postponement of two major upcoming events: The Global Campus Journalism Summit 2.0 and the Prof. Francis EGBOKHARE Inter-Press Debate Competition which was both originally scheduled for 5th July, 2025.

In the statement released by the President of UCJ UI, Olanshile Ogunrinu, the organization expressed deep regret over the decision citing "unavoidable logistical challenges" as the primary reason for the rescheduling. It was emphasized that the decision was made after careful deliberation and aims to ensure a more seamless and impactful experience for all stakeholders.

"The decision, though difficult, is a necessary one to ensure that we deliver an experience that reflects the excellence and value that all participants, speakers and sponsors deserve", the statement reads.

The GCJS and Prof. Egbokhare Debate competition are renowned platform for learning, collaboration, intellectual engagement and leadership among aspiring media professionals and student journalists. The UCJ UI assured the public that the postponement is temporary and purely in the interest of organising a more inclusive and high impact event.

According to the release, all registrations, expressions of interest and confirmations already made remains valid as the union pledged to announce a new date in due course and affirmed that behind the scenes efforts are ongoing to resolve the logistical issues at hand.

At the end of the official statement, the organisers extended an apology for any inconvenience caused and expressed confidence that the rescheduled event will surpass expectations.
