THE WORDS WE MEANT TO SAY

Many of us relate, I heard,
To those moments restraint is preferred.
Even when the loud ones take the stage,
We guard what we know like treasure caged.
And by those who know less, we’re often led,
’Cause we chose to hide under their facade.
Unspoken words of wisdom,
Sitting pretty in unopened pages,
Pages, if flipped over and over,
Would only leave more to discover.
But chances to reveal them slip past,
While hollow pages are the ones projected fast.
Perhaps it is the fear of rejection,
The uncertainty of getting acceptance.
Maybe it is the fear of failure,
Hoping not to disappoint those we brag to.
On another side, it could be timidity,
One built after years of not showing up.
But here is what we all never consider:
What if our fear is that we actually can?
But we choose mediocrity because it is safer,
The responsibility of success we’d rather ban.
We dim our shine to blend in disguise,
Lest our comfort in shadows be compromised.
But here’s to the ones who’ve stayed too quiet,
Whose minds hold storms beneath a calm diet.
Let the world feel the weight of your knowing;
Don’t wait for permission—start showing.
Start saying the words you meant to say;
They were never meant for the unopened pages.
So speak, even if your voice might shake,
Each truth you hold is yours to stake.
The world is shaped by voices brave.
And if they listen, or if they turn away,
Let it not steal the words you need to say.
For silence births regret, not peace;
Only in expression do we find release.
