Sigma Club Hosts Press Conference Ahead of 11th Public Lecture
Ahead of its 11th public lecture, the Sigma Club, University of Ibadan, held a press conference on June 28, 2025. Addressing the Press, Sigma Chief Toyinbo Adedeji shared details about the upcoming event, which will honour Dr. Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan, a former Managing Director of First Bank Nigeria and past Sigma Chief.
The keynote speech will be delivered by Dr. Karl Toriola, Managing Director and CEO of MTN Nigeria.
The lecture will also host notable guests, including the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, who will serve as Chairman of the Day. Other dignitaries like Professor Gabriel Ogunmola, Chancellor of Lead City University and former Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Ibadan, who will serve as Special Guest of Honour. Also expected is Old Sigmite Gani Adeniran, the Father of the Day.
Sulaimon Philipson, Chairman of the Publicity Committee, shared that the lecture creates space for engaging with challenges faced by young people, offering a platform for seasoned professionals to provide insight and guidance. He announced the lecture’s theme: “Leveraging Technology and Digital Education for Mass Employment, Wealth Creation and Poverty Alleviation.”
The event will take place at the Alumni Hall, University of Ibadan, which has a capacity of 700 people. Provisions are being made for additional participants outside the hall. Attendance is open to all, but online registration is required. A registration booth will also be available at the venue.
Responding to a question about a panel session at the event, Adedeji explained that there won’t be panel sessions, but a discussion section where attendees have the chance to interact directly with the speakers.
The Sigma Public Lecture has previously featured respected figures such as Professor Ayo Banjo, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, and Professor Yemi Osinbajo, former Vice President of Nigeria.
