On Saturday, June 28, 2025, the Sigma Club, University of Ibadan, held its sessional health outreach at SUB Car Park. The outreach was held in collaboration with Asido Campus Network, the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, and Nigeria Medical Laboratory Science Students Association, among others.
The outreach featured students and members of the university community.
Dr. Adesola Odofin of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria buttressed hand washing as a method of stalling diseases. She made a case of nursing mothers who were advised to always wash their hands after changing their babies’ diapers to reduce the prevalence of diarrhea. She also lectured on proper laundry management and dieting. Other partner organisations were represented with speakers who also lectured the students on different aspects of healthcare.
At the outreach, members of the university got free tests on BMI, blood glucose and STIs, and consultations with medical officers.
The club’s chief, Toyinbo Ayodeji, addressed members of the press earlier and revealed the outreach as the forth one with the last one held at Ijaye, Oyo State.
He further noted that,
“We have external medical bodies. We partner with Medical Women Association of Nigeria and Nigeria Medical Laboratory Science Students Association, University of Ibadan chapter who will carry out Body Mass Index test, Blood test and so on.”
