UI Holds Question and Answer Session for Students on Nelfund

On the 21st of May, 2025, the University hosted a question and answer programme to answer questions on the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). The event took place at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan. The event commenced around 2:00pm.


It was a programme organised for the students of the University to ask questions that bothers them concerning the NELFUND  loan application, the delays in the former loan refunds as well as the delays in the approval of the current session loans applied by the university students. Directors of NELFUND were present for the event including the director of monetary and evaluation, Mr. Aliyu. A. Muhammed, the Director of Information and Technology Mrs. Alao Abiodun.

     

The host, Mr. Oladayo Olajide, welcomed Mrs. Alao Abiodun to address the audience. She stated that a total number of 4,834 students applied during the 2023/2024 academic session, of which 170 students applied late for the loan last session, while 4,809 students applied for the 2024/2025 academic session and have been approved. She also mentioned that a refund is available to anyone who couldn't use the loan to pay their tuition fee last session.


Mr. Aliyu. A. Muhammed, discussed the benefits of the loan. A few students were called to testify of the benefit of the loan. More so, he promised that the current session loans will definitely be disbursed in the next two weeks. The programme was brought to a close by the recital of the national anthem and the school anthem at exactly 4:05pm.
