On May 15, 2025, the Students’ Union executive released a notice stating the recent developments concerning the Students’ Union Congress, which was meant to be held on Saturday, May 17.

The notice mentioned that some students visited the Students’ Union building earlier with the intent of engaging with some of the executive members. After addressing the students in good faith, the engagement took an aggressive turn, which led to the harassment of the executive members, resulting in one of the executive members sustaining an injury.

“While the Union is primarily concerned about the interests of our students and fostering dialogue in doing so, we strongly condemn these barbaric acts of harassment, intimidation and violence”, the memo stated.

As a result of this occurrence, the Students’ Union Congress has been cancelled till further notice. The memo was concluded with a note of appreciation to all students and the signatures of the president, Covenant Odedele and the general secretary, Segun V. Olowu.
