By Osuolale Oluwatomilayo
In line with the hall chairperson’s, Anifowose Nofisat, manifesto, a monthly sanitation initiative tagged “The Nexus Environmental Scheme” is to be held on the last saturday of the month. Today, the 31st of May, 2025, Queen Elizabeth II hall executives, in collaboration with The Green Club, University of Ibadan, held the second sanitation exercise for this semester.
The sanitation exercise was aimed at reducing the occurrence of indiscriminate waste disposal, ensuring neatness, and curbing the spread of infection.
The clean-up started at exactly 7 a.m. with an exercise warm-up at Freshers' Block before the clean-up proper. Participants moved from block to block, emptying waste bins and picking up trash.
In a speech by Oladipo John, a member of The Green Club, UI, he said, “Climate ambassadors should be present at every faculty, hall, and everywhere else to prevent indiscriminate dumping of waste.”
The event ended at 8:45 a.m. with a closing remark from the Hall Chairperson, Anifowose Nofisat, encouraging members to gather as much plastic from that day until Thursday, when the plastics would be picked up, and each Queenite would receive something in return. She appreciated everyone for showing up and encouraged them to promote healthy living.
