What about me?
By Olufunmilola Oludare
Thousands of feelings are locked up
Expressions are daily yearning audience
Questions awaiting answers abound
The desire to eliminate subservience persists
But ,nobody sees, nobody knows
Every child secretly asks ‘what about me?
No child wishes to stay unrecognized
Mandates continue to increase
Nobody should ever forget
Nobody should avoid this obvious truth
Every child deserves to be seen and heard
No child has to be brow beaten
No child should be exposed to any sort of intimidation
Every child’s specialty should be brought to light
Every child has a mandate
The mandate to grow
The mandate to know
The mandate to learn
The mandate to build
The mandate to succeed
The mandate to race at their own different paces
Every child deserves a space
A space to race and maintain their originality
A space where comparison and competition are absent
A space where each child has a voice
A space where children do not have to strive to be relevant
A space where the uniqueness of each child is appreciated
A space where a generation of leaders is created
Guess what!
Dreams come true
Dreams are meant to be fulfilled
Children dream too
They have goals
They want to be celebrated
They desire to grow big and achieve a lot
To be continued…
