UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN HOLDS SECOND DAY OF ORIENTATION FOR FRESHERS

On the 15th of April, 2025, the University of Ibadan continued its orientation programme for the newly admitted students at the International Conference Center (ICC). 


Present at the program are, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Adebayo Aderonke, University Librarian, Dr. Mercy, Dean of Students, Prof. Abiona, Kuti Hall-Warden, Mr Babatunde, Director of the University Health Services, Dr. Aderonke and Deputy Registrar (Students Affairs) Mr Sulaimon. The event was facilitated by Mr Dayo. 


The event commenced with the recitation  of the national and school anthems. Following that, the Deputy Vice Chancellor gave the welcome address, where she admonished the students to be focused on the primary reason why they are in school, their academics. The University Librarian, Dr. Mercy gave a presentation on the topic “Role of library in achieving academic excellence”. She encouraged the students to optimise the use of the Library as she said, “only those who maximize the Library come top in their academic endeavors”


The second presentation was delivered by the Dean of Students, Prof Abiona titled “The Ideal Student in the University Ibadan. Afterwards,  the  Hall Warden of Kuti Hall gave a lecture on “Hall Rules and Regulations. Defaulters and Penalties”. He instructed the students to adhere to the hall’s regulations as failure to comply leads to sanctioning. 


The last lecture was taken by the Director of the University Health Services, who emphasized the importance of a healthy living noting that “No one is more concerned about your health than you”. She also advised the students to complete their Jaja registration as it is mandatory for future registrations.


The event came to an end with a Q and A session and the facilitator urging the students to be early for the matriculation ceremony planned for  tomorrow.
