It’s that time again where we have to start packing our luggages, it’s the time where we have to awaken our brains from their slumber. Our rest period is over and our comfort zones are about to be taken over by 8am classes. One of the best things about home is the quality homemade foods or at least the fact that you will eat something other than garri, rice, spaghetti and noodles etc.

In school, a good number of us eat to survive and to have the energy to carry out daily activities and not for pleasure especially when we have to cook the food. Hence, we eat the same thing over and over again. For some people, their class schedules are tight and after a long day just want to have something in their bellies and then its straight to bed.

For others, cooking in school especially school hostels can be very inconvenient and the hope of eating a well cooked meal is squashed immediately, when the thought of the entire process comes to mind. Meanwhile, some students have the financial means to alleviate concerns about meal planning, as their financial resources provide a solution to this challenge.

 In this session, let's make it "New Session, New Eating Pattern." It's time to have a better eating plan and schedule with the following tips;

Have a meal timetable: A meal timetable will guide what you eat and help you plan your meals better. You can create a meal timetable every week, every month or you can have a constant timetable. Not only will this help solve the problem of what to eat, it will help you save time and energy thinking of what to eat.

Allocate money for Food: When budgeting, consider allocating a dedicated amount for food expenses. This system can also be used by allocating money for food. When you have money kept aside solely dedicated to feeding, even on days when you cannot cook or need to buy food, you are not left high and dry.

Take Yourself Out: Take yourself out or get good food for yourself when feasible, without excessive spending.

In the end, we are products of what we take into our bodies. Let's make this new session different by adopting healthier eating habits. Eat good food this session and your body will thank you for it.
