University of Ibadan Inaugurates New Students’ Union Executives

On the 7th of March, 2025, the University of Ibadan swore in the newly elected Students’ Union Leaders and members of the Students’ Representative Council. The event took place at Trenchard Hall.

The event was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Aderonke Bayenuse, Deputy Vice Chancellor( Research, Innovation and strategic Partnerships) Professor Oluyemisi Bamgbose (SAN), Dean of Students, Professor Keye Abiona, The Registrar, Mr Ganiyu Saliu; together with deans of faculties and distinguished guests.

The newly appointed executives are:

Covenant Odedele - President

Olabisi Owadayo - Vice President

Victor Segun Olowu - General Secretary

Emmanuel Olawoye - Assistant General Secretary

Oluwaseun Adeyemi - House Secretary

Oluwapelumi Bioku - Treasurer

Victor Kolawole - Sports Secretary

Engaging with the newly elected Students’ Union Leaders, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adebowale extended his commendation to the executives, wishing them success and strength in their tenure.

He also stated the need for the standards set by the previous Students’ Union executives to be maintained.

The outgoing President of the Students’ Union, Aweda Bolaji, in his speech, appreciated the university management for the assistance they have received. He urged the incoming president to seek guidance from previous executives and the dean of students before making any decisions.

The newly elected President of the Students’ Union, Covenant Odedele stated,

“We shall work progressively with the University management in uplifting the welfare of the students”.
