Student’s Union Electoral Commission,University Of Ibadan Special Release On Electoral Activities

On January 16, 2025, the Student’s Union Electoral Commission of the University of Ibadan (SUECUI) announced in a special statement that the ban on electoral activities would be lifted in two days.
The release which was signed by the Chairman of the Publicity Committee,Olanrewaju Ibrahim Osiga and the Chairman of the Logistics Committee, Olaniyi Sodeeq Dolapo,was to prepare all stakeholders, candidates and campaign teams for the upcoming election while adhering strictly to electoral guidelines.
With an election timetable, details of the important dates and activities for the election are included.
The lifting of the ban which will commence on Saturday, 18th January 2025.
Collection and Submission of Nomination Forms which would hold out from Monday, January 20 down till Friday, January 31, 2025.
The Screening Exercise for Candidates was scheduled on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
The Press Night will take place on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Speech Night/Manifesto Presentation comes up on Thursday, February 21, 2025.
Elections Scheduled for February and March 2025: Key Dates Announced
The much-anticipated elections for the Students' Electoral Commission (S.E.C.) and the Students' Representative Council (S.R.C.) have been officially scheduled. The former has been scheduled on Saturday, February 22, 2025 and the latter on march 1,.2025.
The S.E.C. election will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025, paving the way for new leadership to oversee and regulate student elections effectively. This body plays a vital role in ensuring fair and transparent electoral processes within the institution.
Preparations for both events are already underway and election officials call upon Candidates and campaign teams to ensure decorum and respect university rules during all engagements.
"Activities should foster unity and respect, reflecting the core values of our university. We urge everyone to embrace this electoral season with a sense of responsibility and integrity to uphold the democratic principles of our institution," the announcement stated.
