Inter-Faculty and Inter-Hall Competition at UI’SU Freshers Week

 

The University of Ibadan Student Union on the 9th of July, 2024,  hosted an inter-hall oratory debate, spelling bee and inter-faculty quiz competition at the New Faculty Lecture Theater, Faculty of Technology, University of Ibadan.

 

Eight halls of residence contested against each other, Ransome Kuti Hall, Obafemi Awolowo Hall, Independence Hall, Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall, Queen Elizabeth II Hall, Queen Idia Hall, Kenneth Mellanby Hall and Sultan Bello Hall. Representatives of each hall delivered their speeches and the judges gave their review on each speaker's speech. 

 

The Chief Judge  gave his comments about the speaker's appearances, stating that  speakers should think outside the box and should avoid reading from a script when giving a speech. The results were announced,  Kenneth Mellanby Hall came eighth position, Queens Elizabeth II Hall came seventh with 54.2%, Kuti hall came sixth with 58%, Obafemi Awolowo hall came fifth with 63%, Queen Idia hall came fourth with 66.3%, Sultan Bello hall came third with 79.5%, Independence hall came second with 83% and Nnamdi Azikiwe hall came first with 86%. 

Awards were presented to all contestants by Queen Idia Hall chairperson, Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall chairperson and Professor Omotosho.
