Unity in Diversity: Miss Edo emerges Miss Heritage

Queen Elizabeth II Hall organizes another of it’s own cultural night event. The program started at about 5:36 pm on the 1st of May, 2024. The event was opened with a speech from the Hall warden and followed by a short session to get Queenites engaged in the spirit of the event by the Master of Ceremony, Lakes Jay. Shortly after the contestants for Miss Heritage gave a quick dance as a show of their first appearance, there were various dance sessions,  a rendition of spoken words and songs by native speakers.

Persons from other halls were also spotted coming into the hall around the start of the event. Speaking with Mr. Seyi, a dance artist whose service was engaged to perform at the cultural night, he noted that “ The night has been a wonderful one, the energy is unmatched and I look forward to an even more exciting evening “

The contestants for Miss Heritage were engaged in a show of talent, with each person showcasing their talent. One of the contestants gave a speech on Genital Mutilation urging Queenites to practice safe sex and raise a voice against genital mutilation , one of them danced, the other gave an Edo indigenous rendition of the famous “Queen Idia” while the last of them chanted in her native language. The contestants for Miss Heritage made their third appearance of talent show, which was characterized by presentation of individual native dance steps.

A few of the leading highlights of the night would be the hall warden offering a Queenite automatic accommodation for successfully naming three local delicacies and how to cook two of them, presentation of awards to cultural night committee and also, the announcement of as the new Miss Heritage of Queen Elizabeth ll hall 

Likewise in an exclusive chat with, Miss Doyinsola, the Hall’s Vice Chairperson, she talked about what stood out for her and the other executives in the preparation for the hall week, she also mentioned how learning is a daily endeavor and how Continuous learning has helped her in the Hall’s administration in the last one year, ‘…Queenites are amazing people and a big thank you to every of them who turned up” she concluded.

The event ended with a speech from the Vice hall Chairperson appreciating her Executive Council members and members of the committee. The event ended at exactly 7:50 pm with, the announcement of the results of the pageantry: Miss Hausa came up as the 1st Runner up, Miss Igbo as the 2nd runner up and Miss Edo as the New Miss Heritage, clinching the ultimate prize.
