The Brief Journey
By Abraham Favour Olohigbe
One day we all opened our eyes,
To a world of new beginnings,
Out of a darkened arena where our eyes
were closed.
We were bedazzled at the faces we first
saw,
Even if they were black and white it was
still out of the ordinary.
There were times for our firsts,
Most of which we do not remember,
Cause they were before our memories began
to form.
Not too long ago we started learning the
language of emotions,
A language that has stung so many
And turned their hearts of flesh to a
heart of stone.
While we try to get a hang of it the time
draws near
And the candle’s wick is almost burned
out.
Just about that time, we learn a new
language,
A language that isn’t meant to be
understood but must be accepted,
Because we all accepted the language of
birth.
We all have to accept in utmost horror the
language of death.
