On Wednesday 13th, September 2023, Queen Elizabeth II Hall kicked out the Obafemi Awolowo Hall
in the freshers' interhall football match held on the SUB pitch.
After the victory goal won by Adelabu Adesewa against Queen
Idia last week, players from the Queen Elizabeth II Hall in the persons of Laura Onyetube, Taiwo Eniola Rofiat, Ojada
Esther, Omolara Akande Fathia, Sonibare
Abisola Peace, Akintunde Blessing,
Olaopa Favour, Adelabu Adesewa and Ande Divine, the keeper, went up against the
Obafemi Awolowo Hall giving their best.
The match started at
3 pm with great efforts on both teams but no goal was scored in the first half.
After the break, the players returned fiercely against each
other with no team willing to give up.
Although two players were injured, the bar was raised as
Taiwo Eniola Rofiat scored two goals against Obafemi Awolowo Hall while every
effort put in by her opponent to score the goal was in vain.
After the match, the sports secretary of Queen Elizabeth II
Hall, Oyebanji Temiloluwa, expressed her
gratitude, "It has never been recorded in the history of Queen's Hall that
we won the fresher's competition. My players made me proud. The coach did a
great job."
"With a positive spirit and consistent practice,
success is inevitable.
We did this. The time, effort, and sweat didn't go to waste. And
this is me cheering all sportswomen out there to go out there and show people
what they're made of. Shun all negativity and do you. Go out there and
shine!" She encouraged.
