Discipline

Happy Resumption!!!
For many of us, we know that the second semester is that time when there are so many social activities, dinners, hangouts, picnics, field trips, excursions, and career talks. They are all amazing activities which are not bad but you need to exercise DISCIPLINE so you do not get carried away by the social activities. The school has resumed online activities and physical activities will be resuming on the 14th of March, 2023. Do not forget you still have to read, study, and excel in your exams.
When you hear the word discipline, what comes to mind?
Discipline is a word we use often in our daily conversations but it is found less in our activities. Funny how many students use the words but do not know the meaning. In the context of this write-up, I think these are suitable definitions for discipline;
It means to train or develop by instruction and exercise, especially in self-control.
It means to train oneself to do something in a controlled and habitual way.
We cannot talk about discipline without self-control.
Training yourself to do what you ought to do even when you do not feel like it is discipline.
I do not feel like reading my books all the time but I have to, discipline ensures that.
When you are disciplined to do something for a period of time, it becomes a habit.
Discipline profits a great deal; it aids focus and wades off distraction. It creates order in your life.
Discipline is the bridge between goals and achievements - Jim Rohn
One thing that hinders people from reaching their target goal is a lack of discipline. Do what you have to do regardless of how you feel or your mood.
You have set goals for this semester, and strive to achieve them. You are in charge of your emotions, get to work. If you are waiting to be in the mood at all times, you’d get nothing done!
Discipline costs little and profits greatly. Make up your mind to be disciplined and be intentional about your actions.
Say no to distractions. Set your priorities right, and define your goals.
Once again, welcome back to school.
