Jaw War 2025 Commences with Hall Category Debates

Jaw War 2025, University of Ibadan’s sessional debate competition, commenced on September 16, 2025, following the rally held on the 13th of the month. The theme is “Africa in the 21st Century and Beyond: Rethinking Power, Progress, and Possibilities.” The first round of the hall category took place at the New Faculty Lecture Theater, Faculty of Technology, and featured debates between the halls of residence.

In the matchups, Awo Hall emerged winner over Tedder Hall with scores of 81.91 percent to 77 percent. Alexander Brown Hall won against Mellanby Hall, recording 84.24 percent compared to Mellanby’s 78.66 percent. Bello Hall defeated Independence Hall with 85 percent to 79.9 percent. Idia Hall won over Kuti Hall, scoring 78.91 percent against 77 percent, while Zik Hall won against Queens with 78.16 percent to 76.41 percent.

The debate proceeds into the second round of events, the faculty leg, set to hold today, the 18th of September, 2025.
