"An egg per day keeps the doctor away" that's what we grew up hearing from the doctor's office, television adverts and even in homes where eggs were affordable commodity. But have you heard of Doctor of the future? His philosophy about eggs is way different and so many people found it ridiculous because they see his perspective as that of a extremist. He advised to eat eggs as much as possible in a day, plating eggs as a full course meal is what DOF advocates.
The newly mined gold according to him is the best source of protein and nutrients that everyone need to live and stay healthy. In his words "you were lied that egg will block your heart" and there he went with the "egg manifesto" not a promise of egg supply but a book on how to diet well especially on protein. A humor note that if Jesus Christ were to be on earth today, he would have used eggs and zobo for his remembrance instead of bread. This to emphasis the importance and the health benefit of eggs.
So from me to you I present my own egg manifesto, "Take this egg and eat in my remembrance" you don't have to thank me! Eggs are rich in important nutrients that are rare in other diet choices. It contains vitamin A, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B5, Riboflavin, Phosphorous, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, calcium and Zinc all for the support the brain, the eye and a good source of healthy fat. Don't let me bore you with all these. A quick launch into our egg manifesto.
We explore various egg dishes at will as students, fried egg and noodles. Scrambled egg and fries, boiled egg and rice amongst others. Let me pitch to you several other egg dishes that you will definitely enjoy.
Egg Fried Rice: Instead of the regular cycle of rice, stew and boiled egg or the jollof rice cravings, you can try this easy to make dish with just a few ingredients at your disposal. With one egg, one or two cups of rice, vegetable oil, onions, green peas and peppers you can make a delicious meal even while you mutter "sapa outcry”. It's not that deep, try the magic and see it doesn't waste time and it's cost friendly. Normal fried rice procedure with slight difference of frying your egg with your veggies! You're welcome, what are sisters for!
Egg sauce and White Rice: "Yuck" somebody would say but you need to try this out. Instead of regular blended pepper sauce with rice try to make your sauce juicy like you would for Yam instead of making it scrambled. Make it with a sauce base and add veggies if available. Plate your rice and your egg sauce. How does it taste? You're welcome, what are Sisters for!
Potatoes and Egg: Quite a common combo that everyone loves and if not, try it out especially if you are a lover of potatoes. Fry your potatoes, fry your egg, scrambled or sauced and there you go!
Plantain Frittata: Wait..., It's not that expensive to put up, I promise. One egg, one or two plantains and I'm sure you have salt and spices at least, oil sef dey. Cut out your plantain, fry and set aside. Fry your egg in a blanket manner, you get it? While it is frying, place the fried plantain on it and flip at intervals. Even without tea or juice, you just made yourself Pizza.
