University of Ibadan Inducts 41 New Nurses, Awards Four First Class Students

Today, the 4th of June, 2025, The University of Ibadan has inducted 41 nursing students into the Nursing profession with Four students emerging as first class graduates.
The ceremony held at Paul Hendrickse Lecture Theater started at exactly 9:45am with an academic procession, led by the chairperson of the ceremonial committee, followed by a welcome address by the Provost, College of Medicine, Prof. T.O Ogundiran.
He congratulated the newly inducted nurses and celebrated the First class graduates, Eunice Awe, Yakubu Jemilat, Ediworo Cynthia and Adebiyi Adekola Oluwapelumi and awarded Ebiaku Precious, the former faculty president, and Iloanya Chukwuebuka the Provost’s award for excellent participation.
In the valedictorian speech by the best graduating student, Eunice Awe, she said to her peers “We are now Registered Nurses, Registered Midwives, Certified Family Planners and Registered Public Health Nurses. The world needs us and we would now go out and ride the tides.”
In an address by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. J. A. Otegbayo, he celebrated and congratulated the newly minted nurses and promised the top 10 graduating students automatic placement for internship at the College Hospital.
The event ended at 12:50pm with the College anthem, followed by an academic procession.
