UI-SU in Collaboration with Security Unit Warns Students against Scammers
The University of Ibadan Students' Union executives issued a warning to students on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, regarding scammers who impersonate student entrepreneurs, university staff, and house agents.
These fraudsters offer assistance with issues such as clearing an extra year or securing accommodation and provide products or services in exchange for payment. However, they do not intend to provide the promised services and are incapable of doing so.
The Students' Union, in collaboration with the security unit, has successfully apprehended several perpetrators. The union urged students to remain vigilant and provided security tips to help protect them.
These tips include verifying all claims, refraining from making unofficial payments, not sharing personal information with unverified individuals, being cautious of urgency tactics used by scammers, and promptly reporting any suspected fraudulent activity.
