Sultan Bello Holds 13th Edition of Armoury of Words (AOW’25)

Sultan Bello Hall Literary and Debating Society held the 13th edition of its Armoury of Words on March 8, 2025. The event, which was slated for 12 pm in the Wole Soyinka Arts Theatre, had the presence of 8 halls of residence out of the ten that were invited.
The first debate, titled "Cosplay The Nigerian Problem", featured speakers from across all halls except Ransome Kuti Hall and Kenneth Mellanby Hall. Folusho Chris represented Alexander Brown Hall, Olanrewaju Oyedijo for Nnamdi Azikwe Hall, Simisola Afolabi represented Queen Elizabeth II Hall, Mary Adigun for Obafemi Awolowo Hall, Ugochukwu Chineke for Sultan Bello Hall, Dorcas Yahaya for Queen Idia Hall, Justice Okere for Great Independence Hall, and Omobobola James Akande for Lord Tedder Hall.
In the main programme was an oratory titled “What if an Apocalypse happens Today?” With four speakers each from the two squads, Bullet Squad spoke against Dynamite. The second round was a debate titled “Should the Right of a People to Secession be Fundamental in Democracy?”
Towards the end of the debate competition, the debate results were announced as Oluwasina Praise emerged the second Runner up and Olayiwola Oladapo emerged the best orator. For the Debating round, Muiz Ajayi emerged the 1st runner-up, and Timehin Asiwaju emerged the best debater. The crowns Squad Dynamite emerged the winner of intra Hall debate.
In the Dragon Jaw category, Hall oratory competition, Awo Hall had 76 points, Indy - 77. ABH 83 points, QEH had 86.7 points, and Idia had 88.1 points. ZIK 88.75 points, Tedder 90.75 points and Bello emerged the winner of the Hall category.
