The Law Students’ Society Apologizes to Kegites Club

Today, the 3rd of January, 2024, The Law Students’ Association, The Redemption Team released a statement following a recent publication they made about the Kegites Club of Nigeria.


Following a release made by the Kegites Club of Nigeria on the 11th of December, 2024 titled “Rejoinder to the Law Students Society: Setting the Record Straight” which highlighted misrepresentation of the club. In the statement released by the LSS, they clarified their intentions stating that, “Our intention was never to denigrate or misrepresent the esteemed Kegites Club of Nigeria. Instead, the publication sought to educate law students on adherence to the LSS Code of Conduct, specifically Part A, Rule 4 of the 2024 (as amended) Code, which discourages activities that promote alcohol consumption, including drinking competitions”.


The LSS also stated clearly that they do not impose any restriction on membership in their club or in any organisations within the university premises, “Our guiding principles remain respect for individual freedom and alignment with university regulations”.


In the concluding part of the statement, the LSS made known that they hold the Kegites club in high esteem, for enhancing student life, and are looking forward to collaborative opportunities. The LSS also suggests an open dialogue to fortify the relationship between the two organisations.
