UNITED VOICES: THE POWER OF SOLIDARITY IN DRIVING CHANGE

 

On July 16, 2024, the University of Ibadan experienced a significant display of solidarity and collective action. That evening, the student body organised a school-wide protest in response to a memorandum issued by the university management. This memo announced a new schedule for electricity supply on campus, which sparked widespread discontent among the students. The protest, which began around 10 p.m. and continued until 2 a.m., was a powerful testament to the strength of unity in effecting change.

The demonstration is a clear picture of how collective action can drive significant change. Despite the challenging timing, students remained resolute and united in their cause. Their unwavering commitment to addressing the issues at hand showcased the potential for transformative outcomes when people come together with a common purpose.
