Queen Elizabeth II Hall Executives held a congress at the Junior Common Room (JCR) with the residents of the hall on Saturday, 13th April. The meeting, scheduled to start at 4:00 pm, was delayed until 5:15 pm. Members of the Executive Council, the Hall Chairperson, the General Secretary, the Finance Minister, and the Majority Leader of the Student Representative Council, were in attendance.

The purpose of the congress was for Queenites to discuss the issues they are facing, including hall packages, shirt production, UISU election, and other matters.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Hall Chairperson, Dooshima, apologized for the late start. During her introduction, she discussed the breakdown of the hall dues and how the money was spent, also explaining the reasons for the variety of the hall package and the absence of tissues for the session. The Financial Minister, Olatope, also reviewed the budget of the package and explained how inflation influenced the choice of package. Questions were raised about how money would be spent on the package, and a suggestion was made by Honourable Becca to use bottles of good quality instead of sippy cups.

Concerns were raised about Queenites paying for T-shirts and not receiving them. Olatope, the Financial Minister, assured the Queenites present at the Congress that it would not happen during this session.

Political issues, particularly the one regarding the Student Union, were discussed as Queenites expressed their stance on political candidates in the coming Student Union election.

Other issues discussed included floors without bulbs, safety measures in the hostel and fines imposed on the residents and how to deal with them. Queenites expressed their displeasure with the prices of goods in the hall and the mandatory charges required after bank transfers by some vendors in the hostel.

The meeting concluded with encouragement from Simisólá, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Queens Hall Press, for Queenites to embrace sisterhood and unity to foster growth and development within the hall. The meeting ended precisely at 8:06 pm.
