RETRACTION NOTICE: UNVEILING THE DRAMA: QUEENS HALL ADMINISTRATION UNDER THE MICROSCOPE
This notice serves to inform the
public about the retraction of the opinion article titled UNVEILING THE DRAMA: QUEENS HALL ADMINISTRATION UNDER THE MICROSCOPE
by Queen Elizabeth II Hall Press organization which was published on the 2nd of
March, 2024. The decision to retract this article follows the discovery of
some misrepresentation of events that
happened in the Hall.
As a press organization, we have
decided to withdraw the aforementioned article.
Communication and the Need for a Call for Volunteers:
In the article, it was stated that
there were no calls for members for the constitution review committee and it
eluded that members of the committee were handpicked by the executive council.
While this statement is correct and members of the constitution committee were
chosen by the executive council, their actions were backed by the Queen
Elizabeth II Hall Constitution and thus their decision to do this was
constitutional.
The Constitution Review Committee Meeting
The Perceived ‘Threat’ by the General Secretary.
The General Secretary and some
members of the executive council were present at a meeting convened to
investigate the issues in contention during which this misunderstanding
occurred.
We would like to clarify that the Office of
the Hall Warden and the Management are a symbol of authority in the Hall, and
their presence ensures that the welfare of every resident of Queen Elizabeth II
Hall is of utmost priority. Every Queenite has access to them and this is not
the exclusive right of anyone or group.
We wish to use this medium to
emphasize that we hold the person and office of the Hall Warden in high esteem.
The Hall Warden should not have been mentioned in the report. We sincerely
regret and apologize for any unintended perception to the contrary by the
retracted article.
Breach in Communication Within the Executive Council.
After investigation, it has been
confirmed that the hall chairperson informed members of her cabinet about the
constitution review committee meeting,
the general secretary and PRO have also stated they were not aware of
the meeting due to other reasons and not a lack of communication.
Last and most importantly;
The Sovereignty of the Constitution
Regardless of the issues that may
have been highlighted as regards the constitution in the retracted article, the
constitution remains sovereign. Nothing supersedes the constitution. Queenites
understand this and an amendment committee has been set up.
For the reasons stated above, we
have made the decision to withdraw the article. The article does not reflect
the sentiments of Queen Elizabeth II Hall Press as we take the accuracy of the
information passed across to Queenites very seriously and the issues stated
above have necessitated a withdrawal. The purpose of the article was not to
malign or misrepresent any office or to question the authority awarded that
office by the Queen Elizabeth II Hall Constitution.
Queen Elizabeth II Hall Press
acknowledges that imprecision and unconfirmed reports that were present in the
article and we take full responsibility for the inconsistencies present in the
article. We apologize for any misconception or misrepresentation perceived concerning
the offices of the executive council featured in the article when it was
published. Queen Elizabeth II Hall uses this medium to assure the public that
all future reports will be well scrutinized. All inconveniences are regretted.
