I want Queenites to be included in decision-making- AN INTERVIEW WITH THE VICE HALL CHAIRPERSON, QEIIH

QEIIP: Can you tell us about yourself?

Doyinsola Majekodunmi: My name is Majekodunmi Doyinsola. I'm a 300-level Educational Management student. I serve as the Vice Hall Chairperson of Queen Elizabeth II Hall. Additionally, I run a bakery business. I have a passion for dancing, reading, and watching movies.

QEIIP: Can you share your leadership journey with us?

Doyinsola Majekodunmi: I would say, so far, it has been a great experience. I've learned a lot, and I've been able to push myself further. Being assigned to the freshmen block has also been a valuable experience in my leadership journey. It's nice to get to know them early in their university journey so I can positively impact them by God's grace. So far, it's been good, and I thank God for wisdom and guidance.

QEIIP: Have you held any positions at the University of Ibadan prior to entering office?

Doyinsola Majekodunmi: No, I have not.

QEIIP: What prompted you to run for the position of Vice Hall Chair?

Doyinsola Majekodunmi: I was eager to serve. I have always wanted to serve Queen's Hall and make a lasting impact. My goal is to see Queenites become well-rounded women who excel academically, mentally, and politically. Lastly, I want Queenites to be included in decision-making, which is why I talked about inclusiveness in my manifesto and the upcoming monthly "Queenites Speak Their Mind" event.

QEIIP: How did you balance your academics, your business, and the responsibilities in the various societies you were a part of?

Doyinsola Majekodunmi: I would say that time management is a crucial skill. In today's world, you have to learn to multitask. Setting priorities and understanding what matters at each point in life helps me balance my academics, business, and other commitments.

QEIIP: Do you apply time management principles?

Doyinsola Majekodunmi: Yes, I do my best, with the help of God, to manage my time in a way that no aspect lacks attention.

QEIIP: Can you share with us what the event "Queenites Speak Their Mind" will be about?

Doyinsola Majekodunmi: The last Saturday of the month will feature "Queenites Speak Their Mind" meetings. During these gatherings, we will discuss hostel cleanliness and other relevant topics. To avoid overcrowding, the meeting will include the Hall executives, SRC members, and floor representatives. The floor representatives will act as intermediaries between the student residents and the executives. All suggestions and decisions will be reported to the Hall Chairperson, who will then report to the Hall management.

QEIIP: So far, do you believe their voices have been heard?

Doyinsola Majekodunmi: We have been actively listening to the input from the current residents. However, since most stalites have not yet resumed, we anticipate hearing their voices as well.

QEIIP: What plans do you have for the freshers' welcome?

Doyinsola Majekodunmi: Tomorrow is the freshers' welcome, and we have a lineup of events including sports in the morning, orientation sessions, a treasure hunt, and a gyration. Everyone is invited.

QEIIP: What sets it apart from the usual welcome?

Doyinsola Majekodunmi: The "Queens Ultimate Search" is a new and innovative addition that distinguishes it from previous welcomes. Additionally, we have planned numerous intellectual activities to make it unique.

QEIIP: I hope they have a wonderful time.

QEIIP: Do you have final words for Queenites?

Doyinsola Majekodunmi: In all you do in the university, don't forget the major reason you're here is to study. Education is primary while every other thing is secondary.

QEIIP: Thanks for taking out time to be available for the interview.

Doyinsola Majekodunmi: Thank you.

QEIIP: You’re welcome.
