NEWLY ELECTED STUDENT UNION EXECUTIVES SWORN IN AT TRENCHARD HALL

On Tuesday, July 7, 2023, at Trenchard Hall, the University of Ibadan dissolved its previous Student Union Executive Council and inaugurated the newly elected executives. The inauguration service which was slated to start by 1pm started immediately after the arrival of the Vice Chancellor by 1:55pm 

The service started with the national and school anthem and continued with the recognition of the Deputy Registrar in person of Dr. Ayetayo Ojo, The Dean of Students in person of Dr. Comfort Aikiraji, followed by the Electoral Committee in persons of Oluwasina Samuel, Lawal Azeez, Adejumo Mayowa, Olopade Mubarak amongst others. Moreso, the outgoing and incoming executives were recognized. The opening  speech was given by the Dean of Students who stated that the management is working for and not against the student body and that the UI project is for everyone with no one exempted.

The presentation of certificate of return was presented to the incoming executives by Mr. Olopade Mubarak followed by commendation and plaques awarded by the Vice Chancellor. Swearing in and oath taking was conducted by Dr. Oke Ganiyiu the Registrar.

 The outgoing Student Union president appreciated Uites for their supports and encouraged the incoming president to consolidate and take counsel before taking actions. The incoming president spoke about his plans for the student body in the coming session which he referred to as the B.E.S.T plan.

The Vice Chancellor gave the closing remark discussing the challenges students face and the management’s relentless effort to make sure things are working to meet the needs of the students. He further commended the hard work of the outgoing president and the electoral committee on the success of the election despite the challenges faced. 

The inaugural service ended with the recitation of the national and school anthem at 3:38pm.
