When last did I see the rain?

Eight days? Nine nights?

It’s now a thing we beg the gods to give.

Roamed the entire landscape; called out to it,

yet no sign of it. The trees and the wind tussle around

as we hustle for a drop of water 

or a sprout of soybean. All we get is a

successful, deliberate act of forcing the sunshine on us. 

We are kids no more; we grew up in a race

trying to reach the finish line - the rain hails from.
