MILKSHAKE

Milkshakes are sweet beverages made by blending milk, ice cream, and flavourings or sweeteners. It originated from the United States of America around the 20th century and has spread to other parts of the world

.

Milkshakes are now commonly seen in eateries, and ice cream shops; and are even sold as street food.

It can also be called shake, thick shake, frappe, or cabinet.

To make a milkshake you only need two major ingredients - ice cream and milk. Whole milk makes the creamiest milkshakes, but any other type can be used.

Recipe

4 large scoops (about 1½ cups) of vanilla ice cream

¼ cup of milk

Whipped topping, for garnish

Sprinkles, for garnish

Maraschino cherry, for garnish

½ cup mix-ins: This contains bits of desserts like cookies, candies, or nuts.

1 tablespoon flavour boost: A spoonful of malted milk powder or powdered milk adds an extra creaminess and does not make it seem homemade.

You can also add chocolate syrup or vanilla syrup, or even strawberry jam.

NB: If adding an extract, like vanilla, only use 1 teaspoon.

Procedure

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the ice cream, milk, and mix-ins.

Step 2

Wait for two minutes, and then mix in a blender.

Step 3

Pour into a glass and garnish with whipped topping and sprinkles. You can add cherries.

Step 4

Refrigerate for about twenty minutes.

Enjoy!
