SIMPLE PICKS FOR THE HOT WEATHER

Not only are students pressured by the resumption of classes, but the climatic change also causes a person to burn out. However, for students who want to remain fashionable and relevant, here are tips to help you with your style in this harsh weather. It is advisable to be mindful of what fabric you wear.

Cotton is one of the best fabrics for hot weather. It is affordable and available in several colours. Clothes made from cotton are usually lightweight, soft, and heat-absorbing. They soak up sweat and allow air into the body to help one stay cool.

Rayon is another top pick for breathable fabric. It is a man-made fabric blended from cotton, wood pulp, and other natural and synthetic fibres. It has very thin fibres, which allows it to breathe more than other fabrics and gives it a lightness that prevents it from sticking to the body in hot weather.

Silk is a delicate and breathable fabric that is good for hot weather conditions. It is woven with natural fibres harvested from silkworm cocoons, resulting in the ultra-soft, luxurious material commonly known today. The process is quite expensive, resulting in higher production costs and more lavish fabrics. It is a beautiful fabric.

A very common fabric worn during hot weather is polyester. It is a synthetic fabric made from durable plastic fibres commonly used for workout clothes because of its sweat-absorbing capabilities when compared to other fabrics. Over the years, clothing manufacturers have improved polyester’s water-resistant properties with more advanced thread structures that draw sweat away from the body and out towards the fabric’s surface. This makes polyester a top pick for gym-goers as well as a perfect fabric for fun under the sun.

Linen should never be ruled out when picking clothes for hot conditions. It is light and loosely woven which allows for the escape of heat. It also absorbs a lot of moisture and dries quickly, keeping you cool and dry. Although it wrinkles easily, it is quite easy to maintain.

Other types of fabric suitable for hot weather conditions include denim, rayon, and nylon.

Not only should one be careful of the fabrics to wear, but it is important to also smell nice and control the moisture shed by the body. Armpits have a higher density of sweat glands than other areas of the body. This shows why your deodorant is important.

A deodorant is any agent acting to eliminate, reduce, or mask the odour. Deodorants are alcohol-based. They turn the skin acidic which makes it less attractive to bacteria. They commonly contain perfume to give off a sweet-smelling odour. Deodorant is considered a cosmetic by the Food and Drug Administration.

Antiperspirants on the other hand contain aluminium-based compounds that temporarily block sweat pores, thereby reducing the sweat shed by the body. The Food and Drug Administration however considers antiperspirant a drug since it affects the structure and function of the body.

Antiperspirants and deodorants work in different ways to reduce body odour. Antiperspirants reduce sweat, and deodorants increase skin acidity, which odour-causing bacteria do not like. While there are rumours linking antiperspirants to cancer, research suggests that antiperspirants do not cause cancer. However, studies also recommend that further research is needed to study the potential link between breast cancer and antiperspirants.
